Adderall & Ritalin Alternative
Probiotic Enzymes: A Natural Alternative to Methylphenidate & Amphetamine?
Ritalin is a Methylphenidate and it works inhibiting dopamine reuptake acting as a norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI). Adderall is an Amphetamine and works primarily by increasing the activity of the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain.
The most common treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/ Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) today is using medications such as Ritalin and Adderall, both of which have been linked to suicidal thoughts and personality changes. Ritalin is a central nervous system stimulant, that can cause nervousness, agitation, anxiety, insomnia, vomiting, an increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and even psychosis. Adderall is an amphetamine that is highly addictive with prolonged use. Side effects include tremors, hallucinations, muscle twitches, high blood pressure, fast or irregular heartbeats, and extreme mood swings.
With these side effects, it is easy to see why so many people are seeking effective natural remedies for ADHD. The good news is there are natural remedies for ADD/ADHD that are both effective and without the scary side effects of prescription medications. ADHD may be connected to digestive issues, therefore taking a good quality probiotic daily will help maintain intestinal health.
The gut flora has been shown to produce neurochemical similar to those produced by the brain. The mimicking of the brain’s activities by the gut microbiota provides a mechanism for bi-directional communication of the gut-brain axis. Gut-brain signaling research has shown the microbiota and its microbiome as influencing brain development and behavior.
In clinical research studies, probiotics combined with other nutritional supplements were shown to promote improving symptoms of ADHD, similar to anti-depressants usage. This makes sense because the neurotransmitters needed for healthy brain balance are produced in the gut. A study published in the “Alternative Medicine Review” journal compared the effects of Ritalin to natural supplements, including probiotics. Researchers treated ADHD subjects with a standard dose of Ritalin, or treated with probiotics, vitamins and minerals. The study found that the natural supplements were as effective in treating the symptoms for ADHD as Ritalin.
A subsequent study published in the journal Pediatric Research, evaluated 75 infants who were randomized to either receive a specific probiotic, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, or a placebo during the first six months. The study then followed these kids for the next 13 years. The conclusion of the study stated that probiotic supplementation early in life may reduce the risk of neuropsychiatric disorder development later in childhood possible by mechanisms not limited to gut microbiota composition. The researchers were able to demonstrate that receiving probiotics virtually eliminated the development of ADHD. The children with ADHD had an overgrowth of harmful bacteria and had in their gut. The study author concluded that by taking probiotics, the symptoms of ADHD may be reduced.
Probiotics, or beneficial bacteria, is found in certain foods or supplements. Yogurt is a common food containing probiotics, but certain milks and juices also have probiotics. Probiotics aid in digestion and protect your stomach against harmful bacteria. Some research suggests that probiotics can help specific symptoms and conditions. Gut bacteria support nearly every facet of health and are part of the inner ecosystem of microbes that develop in each of us. That’s why healthy gut flora are important for so many functions in the body, including optimal mental and emotional function, such as the creation of neurotransmitters and proper chemical balance in the brain, which is crucial for children with ADHD. For the gut microbiome to be healthy, it requires an abundance of the good bacteria, also known as probiotics.
Relationship: The Role of Probiotic & ADHD
Most people with ADHD have little good bacteria and high amounts of harmful bacteria in their stomach, according to Dr. Michael Lyon. Dr. Lyon conducted research on 75 patients with ADHD and discovered that a third of the subjects in his study had pathogenic yeast, or harmful bacteria. Dr. Lyon believes that by adding probiotics to the diets of individuals with ADHD, the potentially harmful bacteria will decrease, and the symptoms of ADHD will also be reduced.
But since many factors in our modern environment can negatively affect the microbiome, one of the best ways to ensure we are continually exposed to strong probiotic colonies is through high-quality probiotic supplements.
The Synbiotics (Probiotic & Prebiotics) contained in the Probiotic Pack™ helps to balance the immune system, promote nutrient absorption and healthy microbiome. Serrapeptase, a main Ingredient in The Probiotic Pack™, helps immensely as it clears out all of the inflammation and dead tissue. By alleviating the inflammation, and clearing away this problem tissue it relieves the symptoms and allows the healing system to rapidly repair the problem.
The Probiotic Pack™ contains quality systemic enzymes that work synergistically with the Synbiotics (Probiotic & Prebiotics). Because of their variety of origins and substrates, wide ranges of optimal temperatures and pH levels, increased percentage of absorption, and increased level of effectiveness, enzyme blends have a wider range of advantages than do individual enzymes. Additionally, when enzymes are taken in combination with vitamins, minerals, herbs or phytonutrients (naturally occurring nutrients found in plants) the combination improves absorption and bioavailability of the ingredients.
It is recommended to take a high-quality multi-strain probiotic formula, with at least 11 strains to balance gut bacteria and promote a healthy digestive system. The best probiotics can withstand stomach acids and enable the bacteria reach the gut alive to perform their health-enhancing benefits. In terms of reducing inflammation, relieving symptoms and reducing or slowing the progressiveness of a disease, The Probiotic Pack™ is a great natural alternative to antidepressants, such as Adderall and Ritalin.
